A Few Waterfront Night Market Pics

A few weeks ago, we were downtown around Lakeshore and Cherry Street.  We were wondering why the traffic was so heavy.  The next thing we knew, we were following the crowd into the T&T Waterfront Night Market.  It was our first time attending this Asian food festival and what fun it was!

Upon reaching the entry point, an unpleasant odour surrounded us. My husband said it was stinky tofu.  Yes, you read that right.  Stinky tofu is an actual food people eat despite the unpleasant smell.  I wished I had taken a picture of it, but I was eagerly seeking more familiar, pleasant smells.  I’m pretty sure my daughter felt the same way too.

It’s All About Creating at Maker Festival

The highlight of this past Simcoe Day long weekend was attending Maker Festival at the Toronto Reference Library.  It was such fun to see the ideas and share in the enthusiastic energy given off by the makers.  It was even more fun to experience being a maker regardless of one’s age.

steamlabsThere was no shortage of 3D printing at this festival.  One of the first things my daughter participated in was selecting a design on a laptop to make a charm.  She chose a butterfly design to be printed on a 3D printer.  This activity was presented by STEAMLabs.  I understand STEAMLabs will soon have a membership for kids and adults to use its makerspace all year round in the heart of Toronto.  What a great idea.
